The New Fundamentalists: Beyond Tolerance

This is not a book about liberal or conservative positions, Democrat or Republican, left or right.  The problems that confront our society run deeper than just conservative/liberal discussions; they are complex, just as the solutions are.  As a nation, we need open debate, divsersity of opinions, and free speech; democracy cannot exist without them.  Yet we also need intellectual honesty and reason based on reality.  Sadly, both are often lacking nowadays.  For many, feelings count more than reasons, tolerance more than truth.  This present scourge of of irrational debate is plaguing society with a corrosive relativism that threatens to dissolve the very fabric of our democracy.  The New Fundamentalists is an attempt at an antidote.
